SHOPPE OBJECT- OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR & A NEW YORK EXPERIENCE

SHOPPE OBJECT- OUR FIRST INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR & A NEW YORK EXPERIENCE

We're here to give you the glimpse of our very first international trade show, Shoppe Object, a prestigious New York fair focusing on homeware, gifts and design. Held during the month of August in the big Apple.

The much anticipated show saw buyers from Anthropologie, Bloomberg and famous museums, take their rounds in sourcing some of the best international brands, yes ourselves included, fyi we going to put it out in the universe in this blog, but besides that, we are grateful for the opportunity to be selected as one of the 12 South African brands chosen. We had an exceptional time connecting with buyers from across the globe, introducing them to a treasure trove of our pieces all made here at home and in the same breath connecting with our most loved brands from Skinny la Minx, DYAD, The herd, Mors, Modern Gesture, Barrydale Hand weavers, Anthony Shapiro, A Love Supreme and many more.

SUMMER 2024

Unpacking our suitcases to put on a colour show.
There's nothing we love more than putting up a Summer show, setting up our rainbow of bright shades and infusing our pieces with a burst of personality and optimism, as we embrace life on the brighter and sunnier side. Our scheme for this show was being true to what we love COLOUR, showcasing Africa's bold and bright colours to the fullest.

An unforgettable New York Experience
While we were there to work, we made a little time for some pleasure, wining and dining in New York down street, starting off with a dim sum night with Barrydale Hand Weavers and A Love Supreme followed by experiencing New Yorks's most cosmopolitan landscape through a 3hr exhibitor's boat cruise ride that summarized the beautiful city while jamming to classic old school Hip Hop hits, dancing to Madonna, and her majesty the Statue of Liberty giving us some ambiance with her lit torch. We didn’t get to capture her because our phone died to prove that sometimes "just live in the moment" it happened we know that, we saw her and that’s all that matters, what a night!
Some of our off dancing experiences included a Taco night at Tacombi with DYAD and The herd, and witnessing the street culture at the iconic and must see New York Time Square where we witnessed some of our aspirational iconic brands flash in large billboard screens, and for us, offering a moment to pin some of those feelings into our vision mood board.
Saving the best for last, we spared our last hours to visit the iconic Museum of Modern Art ( MOMA) to experience some of the most historical artists that continue to inspired us. Yes we saw the real life Vincent Van Gogh's painting ( The Starry Nights ) and Henri Matisse works every artist and works imagined sadly except for the Mona Lisa, yes I know a bummer right, but we’’ll just have to go to Paris for her, maybe Maison Objet?, we don’t know, but on the great side we did a little shopping at MOM’s gifts store and got a poster of Mark Rothko and Henri Matisse as memorabilia to decorate our home studio when we get back adding to this incredible milestone.
Enough talking, check out some of of of our highlights and off the timesheet experiences of our time in New York experience. Hope you love it as much as we did experiencing it.
